Solar Fireworks: Massive explosion on sun’s surface

As we are all busy welcoming 2013, the sun made some fireworks of its own.

According to report, the solar explosion last December 31 encompassing 160,000 miles out from the sun’s covering.

NASA’s Solar Dynamic Observatory captured an amazing light show that lasted for four hours.
